The Panzerschreck was an anti-tank weapon designed and primarily used by Germany during World War II. Officially known as the Raketenpanzerbüchse 54, it was based on the US bazooka, and was one of two rocket launchers operated by the German Army. Its effectiveness in combat earned it the nickname Panzerschreck, translating to “Tank Terror.” The weapon was shoulder-launched and fired a fin-stabilized rocket with a shaped charge warhead. It was made in smaller numbers than the Panzerfaust, which was a light, disposable anti-tank weapon that used a system not unlike those of recoiless rifles.
